Doe Den Tap Toe!
The term 'Tattoo' originates from the 1600s during the thirty years’ war in the European Low Countries. Drummers from the fortress garrisons were sent out into the towns each evening to signal ‘doe den tap toe’ which means ‘turn off the taps’, the instruction to the innkeepers to stop serving beer and inform the soldiers that it was time to return to their barracks for the night.
Today, The London Tattoo brings together an international cast of marching bands for a unique and intimate musical only Tattoo in the East End docks of London.
A musical cast of over 700 musicians will gather in London, featuring the All-American Collegiate Honour Band; the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band; the Burgess Hill Marching Youth; the Gordon's School Pipes & Drums; the Marching Scarlet Knights; the Pride of Dayton and The Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines, CTCRM.
Join us for one night only on Saturday, 28th June at 6pm in the ICC Auditorium, ExCeL London to celebrate marching music.
